I started my writing career as a last semester in journalism school at The Independent on Sunday, the weekly magazine for the London-based newspaper. I then moved to NYC and ran a freelance magazine writing career alongside working in what became content marketing. As I was in my young 20s, my writing was focused on music, arts & culture and was largely featured in downtown, independent magazines like Filter Magazine, Blackbook Magazine, SOMA Magazine and more. I had the privilege of interviewing many of my music and arts heroes, like Juliette Lewis, Depeche Mode, and Duran Duran. I also broke many artists to the American press, like M.I.A., and made many friends along the way. My last official interview was with Devendra Banhart in 2019 when he released his album, Ma.
